What Is Homoeopathy
Homoeopathy is a holistic approach to maintaining health and well being and is fast becoming the preferred mode of treatment around the world. Founded by German physician and chemist Dr Samuel Hahnemann in the late 1700s, it is a complete therapeutic system of medicine. Homoeopathy is based on the observation that a substance, when taken by a healthy person, is capable of producing a particular array of symptoms. According to Homoeopathic philosophy a substance so tested can be used to treat someone suffering from a disease or condition that presents with symptoms similar to those produced by that substance. This is the Homoeopathic Law of Similars, also expressed as ‘Let Likes be cured by Likes’.
Conditions treated with Homoeopathy
Homoeopathy is a medical system in which ANY medical illness or underlying condition has the potential to be treated – either to investigate cause of disease, treat only symptoms for an acute illness such as the common cold, or even offer palliative treatment for the adverse effects of past medical treatment. However, consideration for the nature and severity of the condition and need for additional forms of therapy, treatment or intervention is important can be decided if Homoeopathic treatment will be used alone or in conjunction with other methods.
Can Homoeopathic medication be taken with conventional medicine?
Despite the differences in approach, homoeopathic and convention medicines can work very well alongside each other as Homoeopathic medication does not interact with conventional drugs.
Homoeopathy, being holistic, also takes into account emotional and mental states of the patient, diet, nutrition, stressors, environment and being and ensures a holistic approach to a disease.
